About Me

My name is Sariah Wight and I am a Certified Postpartum Doula with Mother Lovin’ Postpartum Care. I started this journey after I had my second baby, and with both of my first babies I was unable to get the help that I needed, even with lots of family and friends around. Had I known about postpartum doulas I would have jumped on the opportunity to hire one! So I received my training, excited to offer this vital service to others. I am passionate about this work, and committed to giving quality care, education, and help. Since then I have expanded my services to include labor doula work as well, and am equally excited to offer my services to the expectant parents in this area.

I thought long and hard about what to name my business. When I thought about what it is that I do, it all boiled down to loving the new mother. Everything a doula does focuses on caring for and educating a new mom so that she can be supported and empowered in the otherwise vulnerable time immediately before, during labor, and after having a new baby. What do I do? As my postpartum doula trainer so aptly put it, I’m a “Mother Lover,” committed to loving and serving the new moms in my community. I am Mother Lovin’ Care.

I am trained as a labor doula and working towards certification, and am a Certified Postpartum Doula (CPD) both through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association). To become certified as a postpartum doula not only do you have to take the initial training, but I also spent over 100 hours in the homes of new parents supporting and educating them, as well as reading at least 9 books on several relevant topics (such as sleep support, preemies, twins, etc.), maintaining certification in infant CPR, passing the test, and more. I continue to stay caught up on the most recent developments in the birth and postpartum communities so that I can give the best evidence based information and care that I can.

When I’m not supporting and educating new families, I am a mom of 3 beautiful children, and enjoy art, paddle boarding, reading, writing, learning, acting, and watching movies. My favorite color is purple, and my favorite TV shows include The Big Bang Theory, M*A*S*H, and Call the Midwife.
